5/2/2023 Absorption week
This week was a challenge, with sweltering heat and humidity. My office's air conditioning breaking down only added to the discomfort, as I sat through meetings trying not to sweat through my clothes. I took more ice baths this week to refresh my body than for muscle recovery or meditation.
To improve my eating habits, I started taking Athletic Greens and made a deliberate effort to limit my carbohydrate intake, which went pretty well. I found that avoiding pasta, rice, and bread helped keep my energy levels stable and prevented spikes in my blood glucose. As for my running, this week was "absorption", and I'm pleased to have kept most of my runs in Zone 1, even in the heat. After all, I need to get used to it for Badwater, right? Exciting news came today with the announcement of the Badwater 2023 selection. The team had to shortlist 105 runners from the biggest pool of applicants, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy for those selected. Actually, not just a twinge! :) Congratulations and best of luck to all - particularly to Maree Connor and Sandy Suckling from Australia - go get them!
