Get kids moving

As a kid, I wasn't the fastest runner or the most physically active. With a love for pasta and a few extra kilos around my belly, I didn't have the strength or endurance of a young athlete. But that didn't stop me from giving my all and having fun. Still, deep down, I knew I could do more, if only I had the right encouragement and opportunities.

Now, as a parent of young kids, I feel incredibly fortunate to have the chance to change the narrative. Lidia and I have made it a priority to provide our children with abundant opportunities for sports and physical activities. We believe in fostering a love for movement, fitness, and play from an early age. And it's been amazing to witness their energy and enthusiasm and growth.

In the last month, we decided to up our game even further by investing in a monkey bar set and a proper basketball system. Watching them play from morning till evening is incredibly rewarding and inspiring. It brings back memories of my own child play. I can see their confidence growing, and they're becoming physically stronger than I ever was at their age.
It fills me with pride and joy. I know that the habits and love for movement they are building now will benefit them for a lifetime. And that's inspiring me to stay on top of my own game as well!

So, here's to all the parents out there – let's get our kids moving! Provide them with opportunities to explore different sports, engage in active play, and simply enjoy being active. By doing so, we're giving them the gift of a healthy and happy future, and we'll likely find ourselves keeping up with their infectious energy too!

Names

Confession time: I have a superpower, and it's forgetting people's names as soon as they tell me. You know that awkward moment when you run into someone you've met before, and their name just vanishes from your memory? I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to play it cool, hoping they won't notice my blank expression. But deep down, I'm most disappointed with myself. Even more so when the other person does remember my name.

I know how powerful it is to address someone by their name, making them feel seen and valued, and it adds a personal touch to the conversation. So, I've been working on this memory challenge, and the part that's proving harder is having the confidence to go with it – saying the name instead of freezing in fear of getting it wrong or not pronouncing it correctly, and sometimes even asking the person to repeat the name when it doesn't click the first time around.

But today, I'm celebrating a little win. I managed to remember the name of the person who helped me at the service center last week, and it felt like a small triumph! I didn't cheat by writing down the name in notes; I simply remembered it, just after a brief interaction! I called this morning, and the name popped up in my mind! It was an "easy" name, no doubt (no, it wasn't Luca), but for me, it's a step in the right direction!

If you've ever been on the receiving end of my blank stare, my sincere apologies – it's not intentional, and I am genuinely working on getting better. We all have our quirks, and this is one of mine, as silly as it may sound. But hey, it's all part of what makes us beautifully imperfect humans, right?

Fresh mornings

The chill in the air fuels my run, infusing strength into my legs and bringing peace to my soul. Everything around me seems to grow still, but it's just my mind that finds serenity with the cadence of my feet on the cold ground and the steady rhythm of my breath. In these moments, I am transported to a place of tranquility and focus, where the outside world fades away, and all that matters is the present moment where the crisp air invigorates and awakes my senses.

Technology

I am undeniably pro-technology. Since my childhood, I have been passionately immersed in the world of computer technology. It has been my work, my companion, my driving force, and the key to unlocking countless opportunities in my life. From assembling my first desktop computer with my sister at the age of 14 to the seamless integration of technology into every aspect of my daily routine, it has become an inseparable part of who I am.

However, this past weekend, as I strolled along the meticulously maintained path in the enchanting Maleny national park reserve I experienced a profound connection with the natural world. At the edge of the path, the vibrant rainforest surrounded me, its towering trees and diverse ecosystems capturing my attention. It was as if I had finally tuned in to nature's call, opening myself up to the awe-inspiring beauty that had always been present but perhaps I overlooked.
In that moment, I was reminded of the inherent harmony and interconnectedness of all things and a sense of peace and belonging washed over me.

While technology has enriched my life in countless ways, there is a part of me that longs to reconnect with the simplicity and serenity of nature. It invites me to reflect on the possibility of a different path, one that aligns with the natural rhythms of the earth and nurtures a profound sense of belonging.

Inspired by the grind

This morning, I ran to my local CrossFit gym, which I will be joining starting next week. It's an exciting step outside of my comfort zone as I aim to build my body strength and enhance both my running and daily life.

I made sure to time my visit to witness the dedicated 5 AM group as they finished their intense session. To me, they represent real everyday life warriors, willingly rising before sunrise to delve deep into their grind. Their commitment reflects a mindset focused on doing what needs to be done to conquer the day, every day, no matter what it takes.

The daily grind is where we truly discover who we are. Within my own daily grind, I identify as an endurance runner, a devoted father, a determined professional, and an unwavering seeker of inner peace through the pursuit of my life's purpose.

This morning was truly inspiring as I witnessed a different kind of grind, one filled with muscle burn, weightlifting, and the dedicated pursuit of physical strength. It was a stark contrast to my own journey, yet remarkably similar in its unwavering commitment and passion.

We all have our own unique grind that brings us to life. It's in the challenges and moments of pushing ourselves that we find the greatest fulfillment and a true sense of being alive.
